Sami Culture
The Sami people are indigenous people of the North. They have lived off and in nature for hundreds of years. Traditionally, fishing, hunting, trapping, gathering, crafts and reindeer herding are central to Sami tradition.
You will find Sami cultural monuments within many areas in Dividalen and nearby valleys in Inner Troms. Here you can see the traditional gamma traps, hunting facilities and marking sites for reindeer, hearths, sacrificial sites, senna grass sites and oral stories and joik associated with specific places.
